Shelbyville, IN – The Strand Theater, Cinema Scares Film Festival and the Shelby County Public Library are partnering to present the inaugural “Dark Arts” Art Show.
Film makers from all over the world – as far away as Ireland – will rendezvous in Shelbyville for Cinema Scares Film Festival on the weekend of September 26 – 28. Films celebrating Hoosier horror will be showcased; submissions are slated to be previewed at The Strand Theatre and the Skyline Drive-In.
The library is proud to partner with The Strand and Cinema Scares to host the Dark Arts Art Show and contest. Paintings, photographs and 3D art are all welcome, and all ages may participate. The subject matter is limited to scary, creepy, monster or Halloween themes.
Submit art at the Genealogy & History Department in the Carnegie East Wing building, 33 W. Broadway St., from September 1 – September 10. Voting on art submissions will begin the morning of September 11 and continue until September 23 at the library. Come in anytime during regular library hours to place your vote.
The top winners of each category will be moved to The Strand for the Film Fest, where a grand prize winner will be announced on Sunday, September 28 at the ceremony concluding the festival. Grand prize: $100; Reserve grand: $50; Third place: $50 + ribbons.
All art will be returned to the library to be displayed until the end of October.
