About: Derby Days is a very popular community event for the town of Morristown. Activities are held downtown and at the school. It starts with the children of Morristown anxiously awaiting the thrill of the parade and the traditional derby car race down the hill. The Lion's Club is busy with the "Fish Fry" and The Long Rifles and their "Rendezvous" while other clubs are hosting various activities for fund raising. Derby Days is held annually during the last weekend in July.
About: Nine13sports uses the bicycle as an educational tool by conducting engaging, youth-focused programs for K-12 students. Students participating in our program system achieve individual betterment by improving their health & wellness, practicing teamwork, exhibiting mutual respect for their peers, learning safe riding skills and participating in hands-on activities that teach science, technology, engineering & math principles.
About: Goodwill’s Nurse-Family Partnership® pairs mothers pregnant with their first child with a registered nurse for ongoing home visits aimed at supporting mothers and families in providing the very best start for their children during the earliest, most developmentally critical years. NFP is a national, community health program, widely researched and recognized for increasing health care access and improving health outcomes.
Volunteer Opportunities: We host events to raise funds for local charities and make grants to local residents from time to time. We use all volunteers to host these events. Our primary fund raiser has been Cornstock in September, where we need volunteers to direct parking, sell merchandise, provide security and promote the event.
About: Rupert’s Kids mission is to empower youth to discover their inner strengths, realize their own self worth and recognize their value to society. It is dedicated to serving an easily overlooked population of youth: those that have become too old for the youth social service system, but are not old enough for the adult social service system. We teach these youth valuable skills and trades, while also empowering them to discover their inner strengths, passions and interests.
