Bridge Ministries: Coldest Night of the Year (Feb. 22)

Julie Alvis January 7, 2025

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, the Shelby Bridge Ministries will host The Coldest Night of the Year, a family-friendly fundraising walk to support local charities serving individuals experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. This heartwarming event invites the community to come together and make a difference while enjoying a memorable evening filled with purpose and camaraderie.

The event begins at the Intelliplex Conference Center with a motivational address shedding light on the challenges faced by vulnerable members of our community. Participants will then embark on either a 2K or 5K walk, starting and finishing at the conference center. Upon completion, walkers will return to the venue to enjoy a comforting soup-kitchen experience, symbolizing the care and support these charities provide daily.

"This walk is more than just a fundraiser," says Ali Brunner, Community Care Coordinator at Shelby Bridge Ministries. "It’s an opportunity for our community to show its heart and step up for those who need us most."

Call for Volunteers

Organizing an event of this magnitude takes a dedicated team of volunteers. Shelby Bridge Ministries is looking for community members to lend a hand in various roles to ensure the success of the walk.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Route Marshals and Rest Stop Hosts (Outdoors): 2 PM–7:30 PM (or set up 2–4 PM/tear down 7–8 PM) – 16 needed

  • Check-In Crew (Indoors): 3 PM–6 PM – 6 needed

  • Food Team (Indoors): 2 PM–8 PM – 6 needed

  • Welcome Greeters/Cheerleaders (Indoor/Outdoor): 3 PM–5 PM – 2 needed

  • Welcome Photo Crew (Outdoor): 3:30 PM–7 PM – 2 needed

  • Floaters (Anytime between 2 PM–8 PM): Unlimited

Whether you're assisting along the route, greeting participants, or helping with food, your time and energy will directly contribute to the success of the event.
