It always looks like they are having so much fun at Shelby Senior Services, Inc., The Horizon Center! Whether people are attending special programs, going on unique road trips, or playing cards at the center, you can tell that Shelby Senior Services is an important 'family' to so many people in Shelby County. What you might not know about the center is how they help seniors who might not have the food that they need. Shelby Senior Services provides food delivery to shut-ins and they have a pantry. This is a coalition designed to benefit multiple Shelby County pantries. We encourage you to watch this video where Greg is interviewed to learn more about how Pantry Pals operates.

The Giving Tree has arrived at the Morristown Branch of the Shelby County Public Library! Come pick up tags to help a local Morristown family with Christmas gifts. All tags and gifts must be returned by December 12 at 5pm.
Stop by the Grover Center on Sat., December 13 between 10am-3pm (open house). Enjoy model trains in the basement, a reading of The Polar Express, checking out the Festival of Trees, and a cup of hot cocoa. Fun for all ages! Free Event.
The Boys & Girls Club will be hosting their Community Dinner on December 20 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at their Shelbyville location (710 S. Miller St. Shelbyville IN 46176). This is a free event. Come out and grab a meal with them!

Grover Center’s 2025 Festival of Trees is officially open! This year’s theme, Fictional Superheroes, has inspired some truly incredible creativity. All 24 trees are now on display at the Grover Center through December 27th. The volunteer tree artists have really gone all out. From classic comic icons to unexpected heroes, every tree tells a story!
The Ville Early Learning Center is hosting their Annual Holiday Cleaning Supply Collection (Nov. 1 - Dec. 15). They are accepting paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, toilet bowl cleaner, trash bags (30 gal), rubber gloves, and window cleaner.
This holiday season, you can make sure children in the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program—kids who have faced abuse, neglect, and uncertainty—feel the love, warmth, and joy that every child deserves. When you sponsor a child, you’re helping make their Christmas morning sparkle with hope and reminding them that they are seen, loved, and never forgotten.

Gleaners Shelby County Mobile Food Pantry will be meeting at the Blue River Career Programs parking lot on the third Saturday of every month from 10am-Noon beginning Sat., August 16, 2025. The Mobile Food Pantry truck also travels to Morristown (209 S Washington St. Morristown, IN 46161) on the 4th Friday of every month from 1-2:30pm. Volunteers are needed before and during the event.
If you want to shop and support a good cause, make sure to follow Rupert’s Kids for their regular Community Days Events in Shelbyville and Flat Rock. Community Day Events are a unique opportunity for Rupert's Kids to give back to the community while also supporting our mission through fundraising. These events are made possible through our valuable partnership with CVS, which donates unused inventory that might otherwise end up in landfills. Each year the Shelby County Drug Free Coalition offers funding opportunities to agencies seeking to reduce substance abuse in Shelby County. Grants will be awarded to projects in three areas: Prevention/ Education, Treatment/Intervention and Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement.
Sunshine House has identified several important tasks to help prepare their W Taylor St. property. This building will assist the homeless in our community. They are calling on volunteers to do some demo work and remove items from the space! Contact dyan@sunshineinc.org if you are able to help.

Feast of Plenty has an URGENT NEED for drivers/delivery in Shelby County. They need about 10 drivers to pick up food from Rushville and deliver meals to homes in Shelby County.
ECHO Effect has started a music and arts program with more than 50 students from the Shelbyville and Waldron Boys and Girls Club and Shelby County Homeschoolers Association. They are in the works of opening this opportunity to more students! Donations are needed so that they can offer these classes free of charge to students.

It’s time for the annual "We Love Art!” show at The Gallery! Artists of all ages are free to unleash their creativity on 8x10 blank canvases provided by the SAGA with the entry fee of $10 for one canvas or $15 for two canvases.
The Sunshine House Day Center needs some donations to help serve the homeless population. They could use some supplies to equip those for the colder weather and food items. Donations can be dropped off on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 10 - 2 at 267 E Washington St in the red building. Volunteers are needed at the Salvation Army in Shelbyville, IN to help cover the phones, assist with distributing coats, sweaters, pillows, and blankets on Oct. 28, help with the Angel Tree, and ring Christmas Bells. Rush/Shelby County CASA is seeking volunteers. Imagine being a child, facing one of the hardest times in your life, and being told you’ll have to wait for someone to help. Today, 24 kids are still on the waitlist for a CASA volunteer. You can change that today.
Volunteers make all of the difference! 🍎 The Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana Inc. Mobile Pantry ran smoothly at its new location last Saturday thanks to all of the volunteers who helped last Saturday morning. Thank you for donating your time! The Mobile Pantry is now held in the parking lot of Blue River Career Program in Shelbyville on the third Saturday of each month from 10am-Noon. The Mobile Pantry is also in Morristown on the fourth Friday of each month from 1-2:30pm.
