Shelby County's Emergency Warming Shelter at the Fairgrounds: Items Needed

Shelby County’s Emergency Warming Shelter will be located at the Shelby County Fairgrounds moving forward. The Shelter will be opened when weather conditions become hazardous. Keyen Macklin, Shelbyville’s Behavioral Health and Justice Equity Director, is asking for the public’s help to stock the warming shelter.

Items needed include: socks, pillows, wash cloths, gloves, stocking hats, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Items can be dropped off between now and Feb. 14 at City Hall, 44 West Washington St., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Special Olympics Polar Plunge

Team Groovy Gang of Shelby County is excited to be participating in this year's Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics - Shelby County on February 4th. Donations can be made online or cash and check donations can also be contributed by contacting Special Olympics Board Member, Angela Harvey at 317-512-1412.

Description: Our team consists of both athletes & unified partners, both live & virtual plungers.  We have participants of all ages, children & adults alike. We have one common focus... to benefit our local and state Special Olympics program, and we're just crazy enough to do this plunge in an effort to accomplish our goal!

Kidzone Preschool: Coats, Boots, Tennis Shoes and Clothing Needed

Kidzone Preschool & Childcare Ministry (KPC) is looking for clean, gently used or new winter coats from 12 months - 7/8 (Boy and Girl) to keep at KPC. Then, when a kiddo forgets or does not have a winter coat, they will be able to supply one to be able to go outside to play. They are also looking for clean, gently used or new rain boots to fit 12 months - 6 year olds to supply a child in need to play outside when there is dew on the grass in the mornings. Lastly, they are looking for clean, gently used or new tennis shoes and all season clothing for boys and girls for ages 12 months - 6 year olds to have for our nurses station needs.
