The Great American Eclipse is coming to Shelby County on April 8, 2024! The total solar eclipse will bring the zone of totality right to our backyards - where we can expect nearly 4 minutes of darkness as the moon's shadow passes over the earth. This natural phenomenon is going to be a BIG DEAL for our community. We're expecting tens of thousands of visitors to flock to our county to experience totality - AND there are many ways that you can get involved!
The Shelby County Eclipse Planning Committee will be hosting their first Community Eclipse Meeting on Wednesday, September 13th at 6 pm at the Shelby County Courthouse Annex, Room 208A (25 W Polk St). This meeting is FREE and open to the public.
RSVP’s are appreciated! You can mark ‘going’ on the Facebook event or let the planning committee know through this contact form.
If you are interested in hosting events, a viewing site, camping sites, or lodging we'll have our team on site to answer your questions. It’s also important to make sure you are covered from an insurance and a legal standpoint. We’ll have Brady Claxton from PCE Insurance Agency and Jody Butts from Stevenson Rife, LLP in attendances to answer all of your questions.
We hope to see you there!
