The 8th Annual “Give Back to Your Community Day” hosted by the Waldron Area Hometown Community Fund will take place on Fri., May 12 from 8:30am-2pm (*Please note that this is a new date! Shelby Co. Public Library: Grow-a-Row

Do you like to garden? Are you looking for an activity to do with your family? The Shelby County Public Library is encouraging gardeners to grow an extra row of food this summer for needy families in our community. As food prices have risen, more families need food aid. Both Shelbyville and Morristown libraries will collect produce to distribute to food pantries. Tree Give-Away (April 29)

The Tree Give-Away this year will be on April 29th at Blue River Memorial Park (725 Lee Blvd, Shelbyville, IN 46176). They will be set up near the splash pad. The Give-away will not begin until 8:30 AM, after the start of the Tree Trot 5K. Blue River Cross Country Course: Tree Trot 5k Run/Walk

Registration is open for Tree Trot 5K Run/Walk at Blue River Memorial Park on April 29th. All proceeds from the event will go to purchasing big trees to plant along the Blue River Cross Country Course. The walk will begin at 8:15am. Pre-registration is $30 and includes a T-shirt. Pre-registration ends at midnight on April 24. Race-day registration is $45 and shirts are not guaranteed. Racing categories include 12-and-under, 13-18, 19-39, 40-59, 60-80 and 80-and-over. Shelbyville Parks & Recreation is hosting Blue River Highland Games on Sat., May 20. The competition will include the following categories: Heavy Weight for Distance, Light Weight for Distance, Weight Over Bar, Braemar Stone, Open Stone, Caber, Light Hammer, Heavy Hammer, and Sheaf. Registration will be limited to 60 athletes. The Event will start at 9am - *Rain or Shine. Spectators pay $5 at the gate; Kids 5 and under are free.

The Indiana Economic Development Association Foundation (Foundation) has received a grant from the Duke Energy Foundation for the purpose of assisting Indiana communities in their efforts to increase childcare capacity. The Foundation will be making grants to Indiana communities to enable them to begin the process of assessing and addressing childcare gaps. The deadline to submit an intent to propose must do so by April 17*. The grant proposal deadline is May 8.
